Lawsuits make the world go round.

I recently found a nice little thread on Wickedfire: It seems that the owner of Clickbooth is suing the forum führer for libel and emotional distress (lol), among other things. Wickedfire isn't backing down, and have stated that they would be happy to go to court. The thread itself is quite amusing, so go give it a read.

For those of you who don't know, Clickbooth is just another advertising/affiliate network, just like Neverblueads and Commission Junction. No, don't go sign up. I've been doing a little reading, and it seems that Clickbooth has a pretty bad reputation.

For example, this thread on Wickedfire is full of complaints by people who have been cheated out of/are owed thousands of dollars by Clickbooth. Add up all the (alleged) missing money in that thread and you'll see well over $100,000 hasn't been paid out. One post in particular spells out a lot of troubling facts and accusations:

* Clickbooth has been banned from Revenue Magazine due to their 'shady tactics'.
* Clickbooth has been blacklisted by Wickedfire.
* Clickbooth greatly overstates their monthly revenue.
* Clickbooth has been sued for not complying with the CAN-SPAM act.

All of that, plus more. The general tone of the thread suggests that if you do business with them, you shouldn't expect to be paid. Kinda scary.

If that wasn't enough, it looks like some people over at Digital Point are singing the same tune. Looks like these people aren't receiving payments as well. If you can read past the poor grammar and punctuation, you'll see a lot of the same stuff that was in the Wickedfire thread. I guess it's worth noting that a Clickbooth rep starts posting in the thread to attempt some sort of damage control, although the results are pretty laughable.

Personally, I've never dealt with Clickbooth. I've heard their name tossed all over the place, and I'm glad I did some research before blindly signing up. I trust the judgment of (some of) the people at Wickedfire, so I won't be signing up with Clickbooth, ever. I suggest you save yourself a headache and do the same.
